How is safety and respect managed
Mental health and substance use are closely connected. Sometimes people use alcohol or drugs to try to cope with stress, pain, or difficult feelings, but this can make mental health struggles worse and harder to manage. If you or someone you know is worried about substance use, it’s important to talk with a trusted adult or a health professional and reach out for support. You are not alone, and help is available.
Crisis Support Numbers
If you or someone you know is in crisis, please reach out for help right away: • Call or text **988** to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (24/7, free, and confidential). • Veterans can call **988** and then press 1, or text **838255** to reach the Veterans Crisis Line. • Call **1-800-QUIT-NOW** for free support and resources to quit tobacco. If you are in immediate danger, please call your local emergency number. You are not alone; choosing to ask for help is a brave and powerful step toward healing.
Affirmations & Positive Self-Talk
Affirmations are kind, true statements you say to yourself to build hope and confidence, like “I matter,” “My voice is important,” or “I am learning and growing.” You can use them before and after performing, and in everyday life, to support your mental health. Here are a few examples for kids, teens, and adults: • I am worthy of love and respect. • My feelings are real and important. • I am stronger than I think. • I can ask for help when I need it. • I am learning and growing every day.
